Why do the colors on my monitor appear faded?

The colors on my monitor appear to be faded, my grand daughter moved the tower and had to rearrange some of the telephone cords, the internet cord she plugged into an adaptor so that it would reach the wall plug. Is it possible that may have something to do with it? Its hard to read what's on the monitor cause the text even appears to be faded. Can I get some help to solve this problem?
