Help with high level to RCA adaptor?

I recently bought an amp and didn't realize that it didn't have a high level input on it so it won't work with my stereo. I wanted to know if anyone was having trouble with these adaptors because my mom has one and all of her amps keep burning up. I don't want to have to buy a new stereo with an aux. out either. Please help!
